Do you think National Examination should be abolished?
The purpose of education in Article 3 of the National Education System Law Number 20/2003 is "Berkembangnya peserta didik agar menjadi manusia yang beriman dan bertakwa kepada Tuhan yang maha Esa, berkahlak mulia, sehat berilmu, cakap, kreatif, mandiri, dan menjadi warga negara yang demokratis serta bertanggung jawab”.
UNESCO has also
explained the 4 pillars of education are: learning to Know, learning to do,
learning to be, and learning to live together. So that in order to provide
formal education to achieve these goals, the National Examination is certainly
not effective and efficient to be used as a barometer of achieving educational
goals and cannot be used as a benchmark for student graduation.
Indonesia is one of the countries that together with other countries is still implementing the National Examination in the last few decades until 2019. However, the idea began to emerge to abolish the National Examination because it was considered ineffective and caused a lot of gloom and could not be used as a guide to measure the development of education in formal institutions.
I
agree that if this National Examination is abolished and replaced with what has
been suggested by the Minister of Education Nadim Makarim, who will implement a
National Assmen system that will test students' abilities not only from choice
questions, but there will be questions for solving cases, and strengthening
character. Even more prioritized is the daily evaluation of students during the
learning process, of course this will be fairer for students and make it easier
for the government concerned to evaluate formal institutions.
